About Coach Paul Burton-Aguilera
With a lifelong passion for futsal and football, I bring a wealth of experience to Northern Beaches Futsal Club – The Lions. I have represented both New South Wales and Australia in futsal at the national level, competing against the best in the country. My outdoor football journey also took me to South America, where I played club football in Chile, immersing myself in a deeply technical football culture.
As a young player, I competed at the highest levels with Marconi, one of Australia’s premier clubs. I was fortunate to be guided by some of the most respected coaches in the game, including Manuel Pellegrini, the renowned Chilean manager; Fernando Díaz, who won a championship in the Chilean first division; Frank Arok, a legend of Australian football; and I was also closely connected to the late Johnny Warren, former Socceroo captain and one of Australia’s most influential football figures.
Committed to expanding my knowledge, I completed a coaching course in England and have been coaching ever since. I am dedicated to fostering a positive, disciplined, and creative environment where young players can flourish. I have seen firsthand how futsal can transform confidence and skill, and I’m excited to help each player reach their full potential.
Northern Beaches Futsal Club – The Lions was created to provide young players with an environment focused on technical development, creativity and confidence on the ball.
We believe futsal is one of the most powerful tools in developing complete footballers.
Our Approach
Our sessions and match environment focus on:
• ball mastery and control
• quick decision making
• creativity in tight spaces
• confidence under pressure
We encourage players to be brave, expressive and constantly involved in the game.
Small Squad Philosophy
We deliberately keep squads small (maximum 10 players) to ensure:
✔ more playing time
✔ more touches on the ball
✔ faster development
Our Mission
To develop players who:
• love having the ball
• think quickly
• play with confidence
• transfer their futsal skills into outdoor football
